Today, August 17, 2026, New Frontier Capital signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IAPS (Center of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy)—the accelerator organization of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, one of Taiwan’s leading research-oriented national universities—aimed at developing next-generation technologies and fostering innovation.
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University is one of Taiwan’s top three academic research institutions, combining strengths in the fields of electrical engineering, information technology, semiconductors, and AI with expertise in medical sciences and life sciences. In particular, in the semiconductor field—which will drive future next-generation technologies—the university conducts cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and cultivates highly skilled talent while collaborating closely with global leaders such as TSMC and NVIDIA through joint research and development initiatives.
Moving forward, based on this MOU, we will promote joint research and development—primarily involving Japanese companies—as well as support for university spin-out startups and the commercialization of technologies, focusing on next-generation technology fields such as next-generation semiconductors and electronic devices, AI, advanced functional materials, next-generation energy, and ultra-high-speed communications.
Amid rapidly growing global demand for next-generation technologies such as AI and semiconductors, we aim to discover “game-changing” new technologies and materials by forging a strong partnership with Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, which lies at the heart of Taiwan’s semiconductor and information and communications technology (ICT) ecosystem. We will serve as a facilitator for open innovation with companies and investors from Japan and around the world, playing a key role in bringing cutting-edge technologies originating in Taiwan to the global market.

Established in 2013 under the former National Chiao Tung University, IAPS is Taiwan’s first university-affiliated accelerator. In addition to supporting startups in the high-tech and deep-tech sectors and assisting with their overseas expansion, IAPS will serve as the point of contact for research and development collaboration with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University under this MOU.
